On October 12th, UNC SNDA hosted the Cultural Sensitivity in Health Care Delivery Lunch & Learn with Dr. Lori Carter-Edwards. Dr. Carter-Edwards is a research professor at the UNC Gillings School of Public Health with expertise in epidemiology and behavioral sciences and education. Dr. Carter-Edwards shared with us how bias and the assumptions we make can affect the way we provide care for our patients. Because of this interactive Lunch & Learn, our members were able to have conversations on race and bias in a safe environment. As a result of this event, we can incorporate what we learned into the way we approach patient care. Sixty-five of our members were provided lunch for this event.
